  2. I came across this case on A&E's Unsolved Mysteries and have read both Dumas and Furhmans books. I amazed at Michael Skakels arrogant and boorish behavior which continues even to this day. He seems most likely guilty of the murder and my hope is he's tried as an adult. The Skakels wealth and power definitely bought Michael 25yrs of freedom. Funny how you don't see any of the Kennedy's or anyone else for that matter standing up for him. Only his father's money.

  4. When I look at the pictures of Martha Moxley, I see all of the girls I went to school with. She could have been any one of my best friends. She SHOULD have grown up, pursued whatever she wanted, had a family. She'd be about my age right now, and it's not fair; here I am typing on a computer, and she's dead. I sincerely hope they finally convict the murderer. I can't imagine the pain that the Moxley family has had to live with all these years. Thank God the case has been reopened. To think that this could've just stayed as a dead case and no further work done on it. I don't know anyone involved in this case, or the Moxley family, but as a member of the human race, I personally want to THANK the people who are maintaining this web site, as well as all other people who are keeping this case alive. And special prayers for the Moxley family. Sincerely, T. Hassa

I just finished Mark Furmans book on the case and can't believe that it has remained unsolved all of this time. It is very scary to know that you can kill someone in this country and get away with it, but write a bad check, and it is off to prison for you. Please know that you are in my thoughts daily until this ordeal is over and your daughter and family may finally be at peace.

  13. I was so moved and impressed by Dorthy Moxley's dignity and grace when I saw her on the 'Today' show interview. What a wonderful representative she is(and her son as well) for all murder victims.I believe her lovely daughter must be looking down and be very proud of her. After reading the Dumas and Fuhrman books the thing that angers me the most is Rushton Skakel and the brothers and sisters of Tommy and Michael. I believe their coverup (by not coming forward with what they know) makes them almost as guilty as the murderer. If my brother did something as reprehensible as this, I would not be able to live with myself if I did not come forward. No 'family loyalty' is more important than the victim and her family's loss. They need the truth to move on.I wish there was some way the authorities could pressure that family. All the brothers and sister should know that they will be judged one day for their dishonesty. They all have Martha's blood ( and the Moxleys' pain) on their hands.

  14. i first learned about the moxley case on tv, i think it was datelne (nbc). i immediately became drawn to this tragedy. senseless killings such as this case have occurred all too often. here in southern ontario we have been touched by some horrifying murders during the 90's (french-mahaffy murders). i can only imagine the pain endured by the families of these victims. the little solace in the aforementioned case, was that the murderer's were caught and jailed. in cases such as these i presume and hope that this painful healing process is eased. i often think of the french and mahaffy families because they are part of my community. i know that their lives have been shattered. i hope that as time has passed their pain has eased. dorothy moxley's story is equally painful and some may say more so. i quickly read tim dumas' and mark fuhrman's book to learn more about this case. i think that both men should be commended for bringing this story into the spotlight. hopefully, in time, this case will be solv-ed. without writing much more i'd like to get to my main reason for writing and this is express my sorrow to mrs. moxley. i want you to know that all though i am a complete stranger to you my thoughts and prayers go out to you and your son. i hope you can gain strength from the kindness of strangers. in closing i'd like you to know what i believe in - love will ALWAYS overcome evil. this website is living proof. 17. My prayers are with you as well as the Skakel family. To live with the memory, knowledge or suspision that one of their children could have been responsible for this crime must be torture. This was truley a tragedy. Considering Skakel has been charged as a juvenile and the laws in place for juveniles at the time, I don't think the punishment would fit the crime.

I have read the book that Dunnes wrote. And i am verry sorry about you doughter. I am doing a report on the murder, and everything I have found has lead that Michael Skakel did kill your doughter. And I think that he should be in jail. But in todays world if you have MONEY or know someone famous than you can get off and that is not right. I can't say that i know your pain because I don't I don't think that anyone really dones. You have suffered for 25 years and I am really sorry I hope that the jury will find him guilty. And that michael Skakel well relize wont he has done. HE has told himself for so long that i did not do it, that he is belive that he really did not do it. He needs help. I wish that my report would help but I know that it wonte but my payers or with you and your family. ANd if he is found not guilty than I am really sorry but he will be found guilty cause all the evdience points to him God knows who really did it and Michael knows who did it hope fully Michael will make it right. 22. As a parent I can only imagine the pain that Mrs. Moxley has endured for for the last 25 years. The thought of your child being murdered in such a way and overwhelming evidence pointing to the murder not being used to convict, it is far more than most could bear. My thoughts and prayers are with the Moxley family.
And although we search for truth and justice for Martha, God will provide the final justice for her and the murder. However, I do believe that justice on earth is fast approaching and the Moxleys soon will be able to put closure to some of their pain. But do remember that God's justice is far superior to ours.
May God bless and be with the Moxley family during this time.

I must say that everytime I would go down to Greenwich, I would always think of Martha Moxley. Hopefully with a conviction a sad chapter in the Moxley's life as well as the town of Greenwich will be over.

THE MOXLEY CASE REPRESENTS EVERYTHING THAT IS WRONG WITH THE JUSTICE SYSTEM IN THIS COUNTRY. JSUT BECAUSE A FAMILY HAS MONEY AND ITS TIES RUN DEEP INTO THE "ROYALTY" OF AMERICA DOESNT MAKE THEM IMMUNE TO THE LAWS THAT OTHERS LIVE BY, NOR DOES IT MAKE THEM NOT ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR ACTIONS, EVEN IF IT DOES TAKE NEARLY 25 YEARS. I HOPE MRS.MOXLEY CAN TAKE SOLICE IN THE FACT THAT HER DAUGHTER WAS A FINE PERSON AND HER DEATH WILL NOT BE IN VAIN. This is the individual who is most likely responsible for taking the life of Mrs. Moxley's beautiful daughter. And then, his attorney Mickey Sherman appeared on various talk shows and said that Michael's words were spoken from his heart. I don't know who is the craziest - Michael or Mickey. Mrs. Moxley and her son, John, showed much more restraint and class than I would have shown; I'm afraid that I would have punched him! I know Mickey Sherman is being paid big bucks to represent Skakel, but does he have to insult our intelligence by suggesting that these comments were sincere?

I can't believe the press keeps referring to Michael Skakel as a Kennedy. He is NOT a Kennedy just because his aunt married a Kennedy. Michael Skakel must not be allowed to get away with murder. Here I am once again for my comments concerning this case...I am so glad that the tide seems to be turning on behalf of Martha...I, too have read all of the books on this case...and I join all of the others in feeling that sooner or later in this country MONEY DOES NOT BUY FREEDOM! FINALLY, it seems, that the scales of justice just MAY one day tip in favor of the innocent... I will keep on reading the comments in this website dedicated to Martha until the right person is made to pay for this terrible crime... 58. There was a tremendous feeling of satisfaction in knowing that Skakel had finally been arrested and charged in this horrible crime.
On the evidence, it is clear he is guilty. I pray to God that the court proceedings will make the truth known, and that this family which for so long has able to buy the'truth' with their money
will find out there are some things even money can't hide. It's high time a devil like Michael Skakel rotted in jail instead of posh sanatoriums for the junkie children of irresponsible millionaires. All my prayers for
the repose of the soul of Martha, and that she may finally rest in peace. My congratulations to the Moxley family & friends for enduring 25 years of

I lost an eleven year old cousine who onwhich was very special to me. Do to a vicious man how took her life with his own bare hands, and the laws should be changed for these people who kill others. 63. I have seen a few photos of Martha and it seems that she was a very innocent person that certainly did not deserve to die at the young age she did in such an evil way. I am glad that finally after twenty-five years maybe this murder is being solved. It is awful in my estimation that in this country you have two standards as far as justice is concerned. However, I am tired of reading people give him the accolades of a saint and complain about the "injustice" done to him. 74. "I feel your pain" Give me a break! If I were Dorthy Moxley I would have spit in his face. How could he possibly feel the pain of a mother that lost her child in such
a brutal murder. Mr. Skakel has no idea what pain is. How could a guy walk up to Dorthy and say that unless of course there is a slight chance he wasn't the murderer.
Maybe this was his way of releasing some of his guilt or maybe it was more or less a slap in Dorthy's face.

This entire case makes me sick considering the murder weapon was the same club that came from the Skakel home and the timing of this event was so close to the time he
was with Martha along with his brother Tommy. This makes as much sense as the Ramsey case. It all adds up to some serious guilt that would eat away at most of us unless
they are truly cold blooded killers.

Whatever the truth is innocent peoples lives have been taken away and can never be replaced even if justice is served.

  75. Well, the news of the day is Michael Skakel telling Mrs. Moxley and her son John, "I feel your pain, but you have the wrong guy"! It could be true. Time will definately tell I hope. I hope this case does not leave everyone with a bitter taste in their mouth like the "Simpson" trial did. I hope these families lives don't get torn apart and exploited like those in the Simpson case. If Mr. Skakel is guilty, or knows who is, he would do all of us a favor if he would just admit to what happened. And if he is innocent, I hope the truth will come out. He certainly deserves to have this cloud of doubt lifted from over him. I just don't understand why people would make-up stories that were not true if a person who had killed someone had not admitted to it? I don't believe people would do that! Maybe one or two, but all the people who are saying that Michael Skakel admitted in rehab that he was indeed the murderer of Martha Moxley could not be lying. And as a person who has been in rehab, you have to do a lot of soul cleansing and admit the wrongs that you have done. I believe Michael was going through this stage of rehab when this was admitted. He could have been just bragging to make himself look big, but I have a lot of doubts about that!
I just hope that the truth will come out. These families deserve to have all this put behind them so they can finally put this case to rest. I hope that the Moxley's will stay brave and keep fighting until justice is served. This is one strong mother and brother who have endured too much pain and too many unanwsered questions. I commend you on your insistence that Martha's murderer be made to pay for this crime.
I would just like to add in closing that because we all feel some of the pain that the community of Greenwich has felt, I thank you for talking with reporters and the media to allow us to try to better understand what occured on Oct. 30, 1975 to Martha Moxley. She now is just as much a part of our lives as she was yours. Thank you for allowing us to share your pain, your views, your opinions, and thanks for all the information that has helped me to better understand what this case is all about. I hope your community will be returned in peace to you and that nothing like this will ever happen again.
I hope they catch the killer of the young Margolis child too. And if he/she doesn't pay here on earth, then I hope they pay afterwards!

I also think the cops in that town should start doing their jobs correctly, if they do their jobs at all...This case should have been solved a LONG time ago.

The police department there has achieved NOTHING except getting a bad reputation in the nation {for which it deserves}.

This isn't the only case that they have blown in the past. 92. love and respect to Mrs. Moxley, prayers for justice to all these incredible cases. Furman's book was fascinating, not unlike the writings of Ann Rule, thorough and thought-provoking. The world is changing, but as parents our responsibilities are endless in love, protection, support and encouragement. Martha was every mothers daughter, and Dorothy is every young woman's mom. She is the epitome of strength and has got to feel all the power of prayer coming through so that she can see this horrible ordeal completed. I know that if she only knew how many people support her, and care about the justice involved she will feel the strength of the world. It is not a tremendous surprise about the Kennedy relation, we should not be behaving like this is not usual. It is very usual. It is also an opportunity for the dept. of justice to put an end to the years of Kennedy cover-ups. The attorney for Skakel is an incredible television wanna-be that sees this as and opportunity for some kind of false heroism. He is obviously not a parent of a daughter and is most concerned with the almighty wallet. Oh quite the american attorney. The shame is the obvious reason he took this course of career for all the wrong reasons. We are all trying so hard to survive. As parents, workers, wives, sisters, putting 25 hours into a 24 hour day, making 5 quarters squeeze out of the almighty dollar... the man hardly sleeps at night. Or perhaps he sleeps a little too good, considering is concious is not quite as honest as it should be. The world is full of all kinds of people, those who are givers and those who suck the life out of the trustworthy. lets be careful of what we teach our children. dorothy, G-d bless you. 99. I read Dumas' book for school. I didn't know anything about the tragic murder. After reading it I was actually in shock. How could someone do this to a person...or anything. I don't understand the exact motive I guess. But really that's no excuse. My deepest sympathy to the family for having to deal for so long with her murder. I am her age and I know many boys that can let their emotions, shall we call them, get carried away. It's pathetic. Many different factors take part in this paricular crime. The mother deceased, the drugs, the obsession for Martha.
It's disturbing to think that there are these types of people in my neighborhood. Justice will be done eventually in front of God, and that will be a wonderful thing.

  104. Hey....anyone care to speculate on the probability of outraged American citizens filing a CLASS ACTION lawsuit against the Skakel family for obstruction of justice? All proceeds could be applied to building a memorial for victims of homicidal rage or for establishing scholorships at Universities across the country for students planning to dedicate their lives to society through teaching, counseling or any aspect of social crisis intervention.
I'm sure it sounds idealic, but come on....Michael Skakel's behavior was/is so vile that to combat his actions with anger, puts us on the same level as him. Take Dorothy Moxley's lead...the woman is a class act with complete regard for human life and well being. Her cause is for justice and for truth in order to put to rest Martha's tragedy and renew the beautiful memories of her child's life.
That demands the Skakel family take responsibility and make amends for desecrating a young girl's dignity and memory. It is the fault of the Skakel family that they ignored dangerous signs of Michael's mental problems and allowed him such freedom that he felt all powerful.
The lack of proper parental guidance telling him "hey, you're acting like a schmuck; go to your room(s) and don't come down until you can act like a human being" resulted in complete denial and a sense of 'boys will be boys'. Detrimental. Neglegent to say the least.
So, instead of remorse for killing an innocent girl, he probably felt justified for teaching Martha a lesson for rebuffing him..."no one defies a Skakel". Horrible.
When he beat her to death, his family stood next to him in spirit and served a couple of blows themselves. Especially after the fact when they denied, lied and covered up the crime. Nice example to set for children.
Some issues specific to the case:
    * Michael's mom died a few years before the murder
    * he was 15, which we all know can lend itself to feelings of teen angst and an unshakeable certainty that NO ONE cares or understands you
    * he belongs to a family DEFINED by political, legal, monetary, and sexual conquests in which NO MEMBER OF THE FAMILY should create an unsavory spectacle of himself
(which in itself is maddeningly paradoxical).
All combined, these issues fostered his rage to manifest itself in the most unspeakable and horrendous manner and allowed his family to protect themselves rather than the community in which they lived.
Because the Skakel family sheltered Michael from serving his debt to society, not because they LOVED him but because of the political and legal headaches his behavior would bring upon them, they created a monster...with empty eyes and a smug face. He is guilty of the specific crime of murder, but his family is guilty for creating HIM.

In this day and age with so much violence among young adults and children, the responsibility of their actions lies with the parents. YES, THE PARENTS.
Don't pretend that you don't understand what makes your kid tick, YOU CREATED HIM/HER. What you're pretending to NOT understand is something you are afraid of in yourself. The sooner parents and relatives take credit AND responsibility for their children's actions, the better off the kids will be in the future for themselves and the society they live in.

  108. I just feel so sad about dear Martha. I saw the tv program and she was/is indeeed a ray of sunshine. I cannot believe the world has such brutality for the innocent. God Bless Martha in heaven and her good family. Justice will be done.

  109. My hat is off to you, Mr. Furhman. I am a former classmate
of Martha's starting when she went to Western Jr. High.
You have not only single-handledly pinpointed the Greenwich
Police department's character, you have exposed a truth that they
    should be ashamed of.
I watched "The View" one day and had to e-mail them right away. Their
dishonoring of Mrs. Moxley was horrible. I'd like to see them step one day
in Mrs. Moxley's shoes. 25 years is a long time.
Thankyou Mr. Furhman for writing the truth. I'm sure the class
    of 1978 does as well.
    as well.

  110. I have been following this story, and have just finished the book by Mark Fuhrman. I am very anxious to see justice done. I agree w/Fuhrman's hypothesis of how and who committed the murder.

  111. I am currently in the middle of Mark Fuhrman's book, and am shocked as to the
incompetence of the Greenwich Police Dept. It is very unfortunate that a murder
that could easily have been solved in 1975 has gone unsolved for so many years.
Hopefully the murderer will come out from behind his cowardice, family connections
and money, admit his wrong doing and face the consequences. It would also be nice
to see the Greenwich Police dept, admit they bungled the case to the Moxley's and the
    public and become more cooperative.
My heart goes out to Mrs. Moxley and John.

  112. We haven't been privy to many news reports of this tragedy
but somehow it reminds us of the slick cover-up following another tragedy at that little island off Martha's Vineyard. We do hope evidence is still available for prosecutors to present a compelling case to convict the suspect,Michael Skakel, and that he won't escape the punishment that Edward Kennedy avoided.

  114. I look at these comments and I'm truely amazed. Thousands of people complete strangers look back across 25 years and grieve for her. God love Martha Moxely and God bless the people that care!

  116. My heart breaks for the Moxley family. I am just a couple of years younger than Martha and wish so much that she could have enjoyed the life and love those lost years would have afforded her. I firmly believe that there is another life after we die though; call it heaven or another level of conscious or whatever it may mean to you. Martha is there. She knows the brave fight you have put up for her. Love and spirit do not die they alone live on. She knows how much you love her and is with you everyday.

  118. I have very interested in this case because ever since first reading about it, I have been haunted by the similarities in Martha's life and my own. She had the same sorts of friends and wore the same types of clothes. I am only two years younger than she would have been, and she could have been someone I grew up with and unfortunately so could those over-rated Skakels.
So what If those creeps have some money and famous cousins. So do I, and many of the people I know, and to a much greater degree than those clowns. I am so glad they are finally going to court and will face the music! I think everyone will see that people are all impressed or awed by these folks for no real reason at all and when you get past what they got,,,it's easy to see how much they don't got!

  119. Twenty-five years later and justice may finally prevail! I applaud everyone involved in keeping the flame of this tragic story burning. My heart felt sympathy goes to the Moxley family and ALL families who have tragically lost a loved one and haved endrued the pain and frustration of never having their case solved.

  120. I just finished reading Mark Fuhrman's book, "Murder in Greenwich".
I disliked the man for his use of the "N" word during the OJ
Simpson trial. I still do dislike him but I also admire him
as a writer. His book about the murder was amazing!! I'm not
a reader yet I couldn't put it down. My prayers are with the
Moxley family. How anyone could do this is beyond me. As
a mother of a 16 year old I can't even begin to imagine how
Mrs. Moxley must feel. I hope they get and convict the
bastard!!! Good luck and I applaud you for never giving up!
